On February 26, 2009, the Broome County Urban League (BCUL) in partnership with On Point Productions applied for a Class-A FM, non commercial fm radio license from the FCC. A construction permit was awarded in August of 2011. The BCUL is the lead agency and administrator, of the aforementioned FCC construction permit and subsequent Class-A FM, radio station license for WJOB – 93.3 FM. Our listening area will run from Cortland to the Susquehanna PA line.
On Point Productions is a full featured multimedia facility that will supply the technical expertise, background, resources, equipment, infrastructure and management for radio station operations. One advantage of partnering with On Point Productions is the consortium of other corporations that work in tandem with the facility. Within the walls of On Point Productions there is a full service record label. Playground Records, LLC, a company with digital distribution, and a nonprofit 501C3 youth based initiative called All Ears, Corp.
These companies provide both resources and additional opportunities in education and work preparedness for program participants. The possibilities are limitless. Youth participants will and can be exposed to every facet of today’s new media programs and applications from social media, radio broadcast, video production, audio production, web design, graphic design, event promotion and web site journalism. Most importantly, these opportunities create bedrock for the Multimedia Youth Radio Project to be fully sustainable in the future.
